A Different Kind of Flower

Do you ever feel like a stranger in this world?

I feel like a stranger always and in every situation.
I feel like a solitary weed standing in the middle of a field of beautiful, red poppies. I am ugly, different, and ruining the entire picture.

But maybe I am not a weed. Perhaps I am just a different kind of flower — the result of a random seed blown by the wind far away from its home.
And where is home? Heaven.

Maybe it wasn’t random at all.
Maybe God placed me here to bring a different kind of beauty to this particular section of the world.
Maybe I am a SONflower, carefully placed in this field to stand tall amongst the poppies and share the light of Jesus.

So, how do I live well in this foreign land? By embracing my differences and sharing with others the joy and hope that God has placed in my heart — the joy that comes only from having an intimate relationship with Christ.

I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13 NLT)
