We’ve been conditioned to think that death comes quickly. We expect it to swoop in and steal a life in one swift act of injustice. Sometimes it does, but more often than not death is a slow and brooding adversary.

He sneaks in and starts hanging around unnoticed, quietly planting seeds of destruction. Then he sits back and watches patiently as his macabre garden grows — sucking vitality not only from his prey, but from the family as well. Every life connected to a dying person is affected, and every one dies a little along with them.
