Will You Miss Me?
--
I often wonder how you will react when I leave this world.
If my time on earth comes to an end tomorrow, will you mourn for me?
Will you grieve for days, unable to sleep, at a loss for how to move forward?
Will you celebrate the life that was?
Will you rejoice the eternity to come?
Will you sit around the dinner table telling stories of us?
What will your face portray more — laughter or tears?
How long will it take for memories to fade?
Does absence truly make the heart grow fonder?
Or will you quickly forget, brushing away thoughts and suppressing emotions?
Will you get busy living a new life without me?
And how long will I have to wait at the gates, watching you thrive
until your turn arrives?
